We are currently seeking a high energy leader to join our Catering team as full-time

Unit Manager, based at Darwin Airport (DRW).

More about this role:

You will manage the day-to-day operational activities of the site including our commercial kitchen, onsite warehouse and customer delivery scheduling.  You will be an experienced leader to the small but dedicated team and deliver business enhancement solutions based on our customers requirements. 

You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Unit and ensure national standards, compliance and policies are maintained to achieve all service delivery levels and operational KPI’s. The role will be responsible for the P&L and revenue performance of the dnata catering & retail Darwin Airport facility and report into the Business Manager, Regional Ports.

In a nutshell, your main responsibilities are:

• Manage all responsibilities of the site’ functionalities and day of operations.
• Engage, lead and develop the teams within the facility.
• Keep consistent and transparent communication between all departments.
• Attending to daily operational situations as they arise and develop rapid solutions.
• Understand and commit to being a great leader, balancing the operation of the business and genuine care and concern for your people.
• Develop and implement systems and procedures that support the efficient and effective operation of the Darwin Unit.
• Implement strategic goals and action plans to meet changing business requirements.
• Ensure that your team are set clear and consistent goals and expectations within their teams and regularly follow up on your team’s KPI’s.
• Manage and oversee all service delivery KPI’s and ensure that the Unit meets its obligations towards our customers (Master Schedule Plans, Production quotas, Flight Schedules, and any ad hoc or change requirements).
• Assume Financial, Risk and Facilities management as Unit Manager.
• Support the Kitchen’s production management with meal/food productivity/quality and identify opportunities for improvement, through customer feedback.
• Assist with forecasting, roster planning and adequate shift coverage in all areas
• Support the Business Manager, Regional Ports with planning & strategies for DRW

What do you need to be successful in securing this role?

• Proven Leadership experience to manage a team of 30+ personnel.
• Substantial exposure to Airline Catering Operation processes would be ideal.
• Must have knowledge of food manufacturing, distribution or logistics experience.
• Exceptional people skills, with the ability to negotiate and trouble shoot.
• Proven leadership agility, diplomacy and ability to resolve complex problems.
• High energy and results driven with the ability to work across and within teams.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Good understanding of Food Safety / WHS and Quality Assurance processes.
• Desirable: Competent in manufacturing and customer systems and portals for truck maintenance (MEXX), ERP & Food Ordering (JDE), Customer Service and Logistics.
• Ability to implement and manage efficient process flow and systems 
• Holder of current MR License and Forklift license highly regarded.
• Working knowledge of industrial relations practices would be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, ISO, AQIS and Customs systems.
• Working knowledge of HSE practices and systems.
• As this is an Aviation related business, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a clear National (Criminal History) Police Check.
