We are seeking a highly motivated and hands on Catering Assembly Manager with experience in a similar role to join our high-performance International Flight Catering team based at Melbourne Airport on a full-time basis.

More about this role:

This role is responsible for overseeing all assembly, packing, and dispatch operations within the assigned areas, ensuring airline meals and meal carts are prepared strictly to specification and delivered to the dispatch fridge in full and on time. The position provides leadership and operational guidance to a diverse multi-disciplinary team.

Reporting to the Manager, Culinary Operations, the objective of the role is to manage the workforce of Duty Supervisors and Catering Attendants with planning that underpins accuracy of the Production team’s assembly, packing and dispatch functions.

What are your responsibilities?

• Manage the end-to-end activities of Food and Tray Assembly, Packing, Flight Consolidation and checking ready for Dispatch activities.
• Provide expert knowledge to the team on food packing process, ensuring issues are identified and promptly rectified.
• Plan and establish production run schedules to ensure all hot / cold meals, tray set and bulk food packing achieve compliance with customer specifications
• Conduct timings to maintain baselines of all activities to ensure optimum efficiency
• Maintain rosters and organizational planning that works back from the Master Planning Schedule (MPS) ensuring effective use of roles and structures to achieve labour effectiveness
• Lead and maintain all qualitative standards including dnata Gold Standard
• Develop collaborative working partnerships across all departments within the Unit
• Prepare your sections for regular Audit readiness
• Maintain regular communications and updates to the team via toolbox sessions and daily shift briefings

What do you need to be successful in securing this role?

• Demonstrated success in a similar managerial Operations role.
• Exposure to Manufacturing, Logistics or Food Distribution industries 
• Proven leadership experience to manage a team of 500+ personnel.
• Exposure to Airline, FMCG or Commercial Catering desirable.
• A strong level of leadership agility, diplomacy and ability to resolve complex problems.
• Flexibility to work both on the floor and in the office as required.
• High energy and results driven with the ability to work across and within teams.
• Good understanding of Food Safety / WHS and Quality Assurance.
• Some exposure to budgeting, rostering and HR/People management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
