AIRLINE SUPPORT BUSINESS OF THE YEAR 2025 AUSTRALASIAs AIRLINE CATERER OF THE YEAR 2025 Do you have a mechanical trade qualification, proven diagnostic skills and a commitment to customer service excellence? We have an exciting opportunity available for an unique dual role as our Fleet & Facilities Service Coordinator to join our friendly and supportive team at Adelaide Airport. What does a typical day look like? No two days are the same! As our onsite Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for our fleet of specialised custom built, Hi-Lift and non Hi-Lift delivery trucks and vans. You will be responsible for ensuring the entire vehicle fleet (up to a dozen) is well maintained to a road worthy standard, and diagnose any repairs to be completed in a safe efficient manner.
Secondary portfolio of responsibility will include overseeing the general maintenance of our site facility, and to obtain quotations, and coordinate authorised external contractors to carry out any significant works to our warehouse, kitchen, storage or common areas or back of house areas such as plant and equipment. In a nutshell your main responsibilities are: FLEET Coordination - Inspecting and test driving vehicle fleet to diagnose malfunctions to ensure that they are working properly
- Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition
- Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, emissions control systems, using electronic test equipment
- Tune engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning
- Repair, replace, or adjust defective parts, updating the vehicle maintenance system
- Perform routine maintenance daily and maintain accurate logs.
- Install or repair air conditioners and service components, such as compressors, condensers, and controls
- Co-ordinate services and repairs performed by contractors / service providers in consultation with operations to minimise impact on the business
- Regularly update the Manager, Fleet on current and upcoming fleet repairs, ensuring to flag any urgent or critical repairs to vehicles.
- On-Call after hours to attend or provide support for breakdowns
FACILITIES Coordination - Regular site walk arounds conducting visual checks on facilities, plant & equipment
- Record any issues spotted that require rectification on daily check sheet and logs
- Regularly update the Manager, Facilities on current and upcoming building works
- Ensure all assets are assigned to correct locations
- Monitor PPM and Reactive maintenance workloads to ensure scheduled completion
- Organise service work orders (SWO) updates and set priorities for each request
- Ensure maintenance plans are applied to assets as defined by the Manager, Facilities
- Ensure correct task descriptions are linked to all maintenance plans
- Coordinate quotation and third party vendor processes for any external works required
- Carry out any reasonable handyman repairs as required (light bulbs, screws, handles)
- Liaise with authorised suppliers for any specialised or external works
What do you need to be successful in securing this role?
- Demonstrated success in a similar role
- Mechanical Trade Qualifications
- Heavy Rigid License, or ability to obtain one
- Proven Diagnostic skills
- Electrical and PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controller) knowledge is essential
- Good written and verbal skills and computer proficiency (MS Excel and Word)
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and any reasonable overtime as needed
- Must be able to pass a National Police Check, and pre-employment Medical where you may be tested for hearing and eye-sight as required for this role.
