We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Specialist, Employment Relations to join our People & Culture team within dnata Catering & Retail. More about this role This role is responsible for providing high-level industrial and employment relations expertise across dnata Catering & Retail’s Australian operations. You will act as a trusted subject matter expert, supporting operational leaders and People & Culture teams to manage complex ER/IR matters, ensure compliance, and deliver commercially sound outcomes. Reporting to the General Manager, People & Culture Operations, you will play a critical role in managing risk, strengthening union relationships, and ensuring the consistent application of employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and company policies. Key Responsibilities - Provide expert advice on Fair Work Act, enterprise agreements, awards, and employment law.
- Manage complex ER matters including misconduct, grievances, investigations, performance and terminations.
- Support enterprise bargaining including drafting, negotiation support, and implementation.
- Manage industrial disputes, union engagement, and Fair Work Commission matters.
- Prepare submissions and documentation for tribunals and external regulators.
- Maintain and update ER/IR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Support Payroll and Workforce Planning with industrial instrument interpretation.
- Deliver ER/IR training and capability uplift across the business.
- Monitor legislative changes and provide proactive advice to stakeholders.
About you - Approximately 5+ years’ experience in industrial relations or employment relations within a complex, unionised, or multi-site environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Employment Law, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements, modern awards, and tribunal processes.
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise bargaining and industrial dispute resolution.
- Experience preparing submissions and representing or supporting matters before external tribunals or regulators.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret legislation and apply it practically.
- Proven ability to manage conflict, influence stakeholders, and apply sound commercial judgement.
