12 MONTH FIXED-TERM CONTRACT

We are seeking an experienced, Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team, based at our Head Office on the Gold Coast. This role is on a full-time Monday through Friday basis covering a Maternity Leave contract for up to 12 months.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will have a can-do attitude, an aptitude with numbers and advance skills in reporting and analysis.

More about this role:

This role will assist Finance deliver on its obligations, primarily the accurate costing of Labour Hire (LH) services used by dnata catering & retail. Currently dnata catering & retail invests significantly (Tens of MMs) of temporary contracted workforce, nationally.

This will require both a broad oversight and understanding of LH activity and agreements across the organisation, including liaising with various internal stakeholders and external service providers (SP’s), and a strong hands on element in reconciling and checking a high volume of weekly invoices. Other accounting tasks will be assigned as required. These are expected to be related to the month end process.

What are your responsibilities?

• Liaise with Workforce Planning (WFP) and Port Business Managers (BM’s) to understand the process of capturing LH hours worked, sign off, and communication through to SP’s.
• Understand Finance’s internal cost coding structure.
• Identify how to best assist other teams, through improved reporting or processes.
• Request usable reports for all invoices from SP’s (if not already supplied).
• Learn how to use Converga (AP software) and other relevant systems.
• Check invoices comply with correct rates, correct costings and correct hours worked, plus other possible issues, such as being assigned to incorrect locations.
• Work through invoices, raising queries internally and externally to remedy issues. Raise in a timely manner any systemic issues or risks.
• Undertake other Finance tasks as assigned, likely related to month end processes.

What do you need to be successful in securing this role?

• Demonstrated success in a similar role.
• Tertiary degree in Finance or Accountancy
• CPA/CA qualifications preferred but not required
• Experience in the application of accounting standards and principles.
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to multitask and work with minimum supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ERP systems experience.
• Demonstrates strong organisational / time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an analytical and methodical approach.
• Ability to handle challenging situations with tact and diplomacy.
• As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
