What does a typical day look like?

As key driver of the Production department, the primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and manage all assembly and packing operations on shift within their designated areas of control. These sections include the Plating and Tray Set stations for all of our Customer Airlines, across Economy, Business and First Class.

In a nutshell, your main responsibilities are:

• Oversee the finalised meal sets, neatly and accurately packed to standard and ready for delivery for each flight on the production schedule
• Drive and manage a team of dedicated Catering Attendants to meet target numbers
• Accountable for minimising wastage by monitoring and improving existing SOPs
• Work closely with the Executive Chef and Exec Sous Chefs to ensure delivery of all planned meals within production
• Ensure that all customer flights are meticulously packed according to dnata catering specified standards and promptly delivered to the dispatch fridge.
• Provide strategic direction, support and guidance to Leading Hands & the wider team
• Roster as per business baselines to ensure optimum efficiency.
• Investigate, analyse, suggest and implement corrective action plans to resolve production and assembly issues.
• Ensure employees are up to date with training per our business training matrix.
• Lead and participate in dnata safety programs, including toolboxes talks, safety stand downs, safety meetings, audits and other safety initiatives.

What do you need to be successful in securing this role?

• Demonstrated success in a similar Supervisory role.
• Strong resource planning skills with a demonstrated ability to create effective & efficient rosters for a large team.
• Previous experience with LEAN/Six Sigma principles an advantage.
• Previous experience managing more than 40 frontline staff. 
• Excellent leadership skills and experience in managing a diverse employee group
• A strong commitment to Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Compliance.
• Ability to cover both AM and PM shifts across a 7 day roster.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or manufacturing environment ideal
• As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.
