Airline Services Operator/Special Meals

The Opportunity

 

We have an exciting opportunity available for full-time Airline Services Operators to join our Production team in our Melbourne (dCAT) catering unit.

 

The objective of this role is to perform functions associated with the makeup of various catering products (particularly special meals) in order to meet the requirements of quality, customer satisfaction and profitability.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • The makeup/assembly of special meal trays to customer airline specifications
  • The hot/cold plating and /or packing of food
  • The tallying and loading of items into ovens/carts/boxes and the recording of details as required
  • Assemble appropriate paperwork as required
  • The assembly of complex meals or dishes to the specifications provided
  • Strip/clean and sanitise utensils and various cooking equipment and/or machinery to work areas as directed
  • Taking of food temperatures as directed
  • Understand and comply with internal policies and procedures
  • Providing assistance to Leading Hands and Supervisors in ensuring all production records and labour usage records are updated on a per shift basis.
  • Work in other areas of the unit for part or whole of shift basis to meet operational demands

Selection Criteria

  • Completion of relevant Food Hygiene/Food Safety courses
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/production line environment
  • An ability to comply with all OH&S, Safety Map, HACCP, Food Safety, Quarantine requirements
  • A strong customer service focus for both the internal and external customers
  • A keen eye for detail
  • A high standard of personal presentation with particular attention to food safety dress policy
  • Communication skills and English literacy skills is essential
  • Required to be able to work in a rotating shift work environment with multi starting shift times
  • An ability to meet the physical demands of the job – a physical dexterity to perform pushing/pulling and lifting duties (weights up to and exceeding 15kg) and repetitive tasks
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality principles desirable
  • Understanding and knowledge of special meal types including various dietary requirement desirable
